How to Install a Docking Drawer Blade Outlet into a 2.5” Tall Drawer BoxUpdated 10 months ago

While Docking Drawer Blade Series outlets are designed to be installed into drawer boxes with a height of 3 inches, it is possible to install them into drawers as little as 2.5 inches in height by creating a taller back to the drawer box wall. This can be done by attaching a piece of wood, metal, or another suitable material to the existing back wall of the drawer.

Here are some general steps to follow:

  1. Take note of the height difference between your drawer box (2.5 inches, in this case) and the required height for the Docking Drawer Blade outlet (3 inches). This will determine the additional height you need to add to the back wall of the drawer box.

  1. Remove the drawer box from the cabinet or furniture piece to access it more easily.

  1. Using appropriate tools, carefully detach the existing back wall of the drawer box, making sure not to damage any other components in the process.

  1. Now, it's time to create a taller back wall for the drawer box. To compensate for the difference between the drawer box height and the required height for the outlet, get a suitable piece of wood or other material and cut it to 3 inches in height.

  1. Attach the new back wall material securely to the existing drawer box. Depending on the material, you can use screws, nails, or adhesive to make sure it's firmly in place.

  1. Reinstall the modified drawer box back into the cabinet or furniture piece.

While this solution allows you to install the Docking Drawer Blade outlet into a shorter drawer height, it's important to ensure the modification doesn't compromise the structural integrity or functionality of the drawer. If you're uncertain about the process or need additional modifications, it's always wise to consult a professional to ensure the job is done properly.
