Swapping Outlets in Docking Drawer and Style Drawer Series Outlets

Do not work on live electrical circuits! Make absolutely certain power is off before connecting the device!

All outlet swaps must be done by a qualified electrician in order to ensure the appropriate safety precautions are taken and that all electrical codes are followed.

Wiring information can be found in the outlet series installation manual.

The ability to swap or switch outlets depends on if the outlet is a Docking Drawer Blade charging or Style Drawer Blade, Style Drawer Flush powering series in-drawer outlet.

Anatomy of an In- Drawer Outlet

Before switching an outlet, let's make sure to define the common parts that make up an in-drawer outlet:

Docking Drawer Blade

  • Duplex Outlet

Docking Drawer Blade Duo

  • (2) Duplex Outlets

Docking Drawer Blade or Docking Drawer Blade Duo with USB-C and/or USB-A

Docking Drawer Blade Series

Applies to part numbers: Blade - 0290-30000, 0290-30001, 0290-30002

Docking Drawer Blade series outlets supports outlet swapping using the following 3 Leviton outlet configurations -

Leviton Part Number - T5632

2AC and 2 USB-A

Leviton Part Number - T5635

2AC and 2 USB-C (PD)

Leviton Part Number - USB4P

4 USB-A

These Leviton outlets can be switched freely among any of the Docking Drawer Blade series outlets.

For Canada - Only outlets with just USB ports are CSA approved. If you swap the outlet out with an outlet that has an AC plug then the outlet is no longer CSA approved.
Blade Duo Series

Applies to part numbers: Blade Duo - 0290-30100, 0290-30101, 0290-30400, 0290-30102, 0290-30402.

Docking Drawer Blade Duo series outlets supports outlet swapping using the following 3 Leviton outlet configurations -

Leviton Part Number - T5632

2AC and 2 USB-A

Leviton Part Number - T5635

2AC and 2 USB-C (PD)

Leviton Part Number - USB4P

4 USB-A

For 0290-30100, 0290-30101, 0290-30102 you can only swap the outlets shone below with one of the approved outlets (in the chart above) due to the limitations of the circuit breaker.

For Canada - Only outlets with just USB ports are CSA approved. If you swap the outlet out with an outlet that has an AC plug then the outlet is no longer CSA approved.

For 0290-30400 and 0290 30402 you can only swap the outlets with 2AC & 2 USB-A or 2 AC & 2 USB-C (PD) due to the limitations of the circuit breaker.

If the Docking Drawer Blade Duo started with 4 AC outlets, it must remain with 4AC outlets.

For Canada - Only outlets with just USB ports are CSA approved. If you swap the outlet out with an outlet that has an AC plug then the outlet is no longer CSA approved.

2AC and 2 USB-A

For all Style Drawer Blade, Style Drawer Blade Duo and the Style Drawer Flush series, you can freely switch electrical outlets.

Warning - An electrician must determine whether a GFCI outlet can be replaced with a non-GFCI outlet. This will depend on whether the electrical circuit is already GFCI protected and whether the powering Style Drawer series outlet is located in an area that requires GFCI protection.

Warranty Statement

If the outlet swap is completed by a licensed electrician, the warranty period remains in tact.
