In-Drawer Charging Outlets - How to Measure a Cabinet for a Docking Drawer Blade or Blade Duo Installation

Docking Drawer Blade or Blade Duo Installation

4 Key Cabinet Measurements

You need 4 KEY CABINET MEASUREMENTS to confirm that a Docking Drawer Blade or a Docking Drawer Blade Duo will fit into your cabinet.

Warning - Docking Drawer Blade and Docking Drawer Blade Duo outlets will not power a hairdryer or any other high powered devices. Charging outlets max current is 3 amps.

Step 1

Measure the Cabinet Depth

Start by measuring the cabinet's depth. Docking Drawer Blade and Blade Duo outlets are designed to fit into base cabinets from 6" UP TO 24" deep.

Docking Drawer solutions are designed to fit base cabinets depths UP TO 24". (Have a base cabinet depth greater than 24"? No problem, call or email us with your cabinets dimensions and we can discuss outlets with you that offer greater extension.)

Step 2

Measure Drawer Box Width (OD)

Both the Docking Drawer Blade and Blade Duo require a drawer box that is AT LEAST 15" WIDE. This ensures that there is enough clearance for both the outlet and the undermount slides to function without any issues. Using side mounted slides? If so, the drawer box could be narrower.

(See the Docking Drawer Specification Library for more details).

Step 3

Measure Space Behind Drawer Box

Then measure the space available behind the drawer box.

Docking Drawer Blade and Docking Drawer Blade Duo In-Drawer Charging Outlets require a MINIMUM of 2" of space behind the drawer box.

Step 4

Measure Interior Drawer Box Height

Measure the interior drawer box height from the bottom of the drawer box the the top of the drawer box. Charging outlets requires a MINIMUM of 3" of interior drawer box height in order to provide enough material to surround the receptacle box.

Step 5

Will it Fit in My Cabinet?

Pro Tip - Remember that both the Docking Drawer Blade and the Docking Drawer Blade Duo share the same specifications. So if a Blade will fit into a drawer, so will a Blade Duo.

Now that we know the 4 KEY MEASUREMENTS, we can confirm if a Docking Drawer Blade or Docking Drawer Blade Duo will fit into your cabinet.
